When it comes to choosing a career there are a number of elements that will determine if you end up with the best, average, or worst choice of your life. One of those elements is choosing the company that you will gift your knowledge, care, and determination.

It is important to consider your specific circumstances and decide what is truly important to you. Based on those factors, you can decide what you are looking for when searching for a job.

Working within the Salesforce industry, you get to experience a range of situations, from clients that are making sure you don’t need to install anything on their local server, in order for the to use Salesforce, to cutting edge, blockchain, AI, machine learning cross platform, cross technology integrations.

While all of that seems exciting, you may be looking for a change.

Larger consultancies may have an advantage in this situation, as you may b e able to find a suitable position in a different department. When it comes to smaller consultancies, it may not be possible, so you are “forced” to look for a job in order to satisfy the need for change.

Security

Job security is one of the most important factors in choosing a job, as it will, directly and indirectly, affect every area of your life. When choosing your next opportunity, you should always enquire about the stability, future plans, and the financial health of the company you are looking to join. Most of the time, larger consultancies will have better figures compared with their smaller counterparts.

Enjoy the Ride

There is no secret that staff members in smaller companies usually wear multiple hats, and Salesforce Consultancies are not an exception. Working for a small consultancy, you may be supporting a sales executive in the morning, replying to a series of support queries at lunch, and customising a Salesforce Org in the afternoon.

Contrary to a small consultancy, larger salesforce consultancies, may already have business processes locked down, which is not a bad thing in itself. It just means that you need to ride within the boundaries of an existing lane.

Company vs Department

Another difference between a Small and a Larger consultancy, is linked to the specialisation of the industry. What I mean by that, is that the small consultancy will mostly concentrate on a specific market sector, such as financial services, hyper growth start-ups, consumer goods, etc. On the other hand, the larger consultancy, may have different departments that cover different market segments.
